The Road to Pregnancy Prep - Part 1

As I near this next chapter of my life, I know having a child is something I would like to make happen. My priority is and will be my health (which is often a full time job in itself being chronically ill) so I am embarking to make myself the most calm, healthy, and strong that I can possibly be.

Here is what that looks like:

  • I have lowered my intense cardio, kept the same level of strength training (albeit considering movements that I want to start adding/removing to plan for pregnancy and postpartum.) I am also increasing my steps so that I can start habits that I will continue throughout a potential pregnancy.

  • I am working with my team of doctors to come off of my medications for my chronic illnesses that would be unsafe to get pregnant while taking. This brings quite a few side effects and is something I want to take my time with to make sure I am doing it in a healthy way.

  • I am focusing on rest and relaxation so my cortisol lowers and my body is able to truly recover. This looks like fully resting my muscles when I am at home at the end of my busy days and enjoying my hobbies like painting, reading, and writing. For once, I am listening to my body.

  • I am focusing on better nutrition: substantial protein, veggies/fruits daily and a prenatal supplement.

  • I began working on my next certification - pre & postnatal fitness. This has resulted in me learning more about my pelvic floor, core, and hormones. I am also taking studious notes to prepare for the most successful and healthy birth and postpartum journal. This will help me with my postpartum clients as well as myself in the future, hopefully.

This is what I’ve added into my routine as of now. This is part 1, so stay tuned. What else should I add? Let me know!
